Day and Night Skincare Routine

Your morning skincare routine might vastly differ from your nighttime or be exactly the same.  If it’s exactly the same, it’s time to change it up. The needs of your skin at the beginning of the day should focus on protecting and at nighttime you want to nourish your skin.  Your daytime routine could look something like this:

The Next Brand You’ll Want to Try

After my perspective-changing experience with the Mila Moursi line I decided that the best way for me to experience skincare products going forward is to use as many from the line as I can, which also lessens my chances of having reactions to certain ingredients without being able to tell which one of the products I’m testing is causing it. Pai had been on my list of brands I wanted to try and jumped to the top of my list for these three reasons 1.) the brands philosophy behind creating products for sensitive skin 2.) achieving that while still using natural ingredients and 3.) cruelty free.

Don’t Pick and Choose Your Skincare

I am not beyond spending hundreds on my skincare routine.  When Beautylish offered me the chance to try a brand that was on the high end with the added bonus of a paid for cleanser and toner I took it.  I hadn’t heard of Mila Moursi before, but the more I learned about her philosophy behind skincare I knew it was a perfect match.  The two items I purchased for the routine were the Refining Lotion and the Dual Action Serum.  After following this routine for six weeks I finally figured out what I had been doing wrong for so many years now. The New Acid Toner You’ll Want

DSC_0033

For years, many years in fact, the only toner I swore by was Proactiv’s Revitalizing Toner.  That was until I met Biologique Recherche’s P50.  The reason my Proactiv toner was so beloved was because it contained glycolic acid.  For my skin type, it was a great way to tone the skin after cleansing (very important step) and treat it.  Since I’m acne-prone with oily skin the glycolic acid was an effective yet gentle exfoliant that kept my pores from becoming clogged, but also kept the surface of my skin smooth.

February “Try Outs”

My “try outs” always consist of deluxe or regular sample sizes.  I get so many with my orders or because I specifically want to try out a product before purchasing the full size.  This month had a few stand outs that I will definitely purchase the full size, if I haven’t already.

January “Try Outs”

Since my new approach to skincare is using the entire line, I’ve been trying out more masks, exfoliators and eye creams while keeping the basics the same.  My search for the perfect mask for when my skin is breaking out is still underway, but I might have found my eye cream and exfoliator which I’ll talk about in my current skincare routine post.  For January these were a few things I tried.

December “Try Outs”

I recently reacquainted myself with the very important lesson that pick and choose skincare is not always your friend.  After a lot of frustration with trying so many things and not being impressed I put everything aside and used an entire line for 60 days to see if I could hit the reset button on my skin.  All that aside, and more to come in a future post on that subject, here is what was in my December “try outs.”

Have You Tried An At Home Peel?

If you’re looking for an effective way to boost your skin tone, even out blotchiness, refine texture, lessen the appearance of fine lines, then you need to try at home peels.  They range in strength and price, but can be an affordable way to get impressive results from your skin without a trip to the dermatologist.

October & November”Try Outs”

DSC_0037Whenever I watch youtube videos of my favorite bloggers and they do a monthly favorites video they always start off by saying “I can’t believe (whatever month it is) is already over.”  They’re right! However, they have a luxury that I do not, which is they get to spend all of their time blogging while I still have a 9-5.  I had to combine October and November since the time flew and here is what I tried and tested during those two months:

The $5.95 Honest Company Free Trial

Honest Co. Trial In Box

It’s no secret that people are starting to look at what they are putting, not only in their body, but on it, more selectively.  There’s been quite an influx of really good product lines putting out skincare and makeup that are all natural, cruelty free, organic, non-toxic etc.  Where I trained to be an esthetician we used the Yonka product line.  The benefits of getting to know natural ingredients and their strengths in-depth was something that really shaped my outlook on how you treat your skin.
