I recently reacquainted myself with the very important lesson that pick and choose skincare is not always your friend. After a lot of frustration with trying so many things and not being impressed I put everything aside and used an entire line for 60 days to see if I could hit the reset button on my skin. All that aside, and more to come in a future post on that subject, here is what was in my December “try outs.”
Amore Pacific Time Response Skin Renewal Creme/Gel Creme
This is an insanely priced high end product from their “Time Response” collection. The use of “green tea stem cells” is the magic ingredient that is supposed to justify the cost. In short, I would never purchase this full-sized simply because for that price it would never be worth it. However, I thought that the creme was way better than the gel creme. The difference is that oily skin types tend to favor a lighter consistency (gel creme) and dry skin types favor heavier (creme).
GlamGlow Powermud Dualcleanse Treatment
I have tried this out numerous times now and have always been happy with the results afterwards. It has an exfoliation/mask combination to it. It’s described as a “mud-to -oil, gentle, deep cleansing treatment.” You apply a thin layer and let it sit on your skin for 10 minutes then massage into your skin with warm water where it turns into an oil consistency. It also has small granules in it, which I’m not sure what they are so it does give a slight exfoliation. The cost is high for the amount of product and that is the only thing that dissuades me from purchasing. However, the 0.5 ounce $19 size is totally worth it if you’re looking to try it out for yourself or keep it around as a monthly treatment.
REN Vita Mineral Active 7 Eye Gel
My bias right up front is that I don’t favor eye gels. I don’t favor gels across the board simply because I love a good luxurious, rich cream for everything I use on my skin. That being said, eye gels do have their place for those with puffy eyes who like a cool feeling on their skin. This came with a small kit that I ordered to give the REN skincare line a try. This is said to help the “eye contour look brighter, smoother, and firmer.” I can’t attest to the claims since I only used it for two weeks time. The price is affordable at $30 and if you use REN and enjoy eye gels then I think this is for you.
Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch
I’m a failure at primers, or my skin just flat out hates them. Every single one I have tried has broken my skin out. If you have oily, acne-proned skin and have a great primer please share because I am lost for finding one that works for me. If you don’t have a struggle with primers like myself, I LOVED the effects this primer had on the skin. It’s velvety-smooth and did not interfere with my foundations by making them patchy. A beautiful product if you’re looking for a primer that gives your skin a flawless base, like a filter in a jar.
unwash Bio-Cleansing Conditioner
All damaged, color-treated hair gals listen up, I have found an amazing one-step product that your hair will enjoy and thrive on. I got this in a Glossybox. On the Unwash website they say “second hair day every day” and that is spot on. If you’re like me and don’t wash your hair every day because you like the way it looks on day two or three, this product maintains that. When I wash my hair now, no matter how well I do at hydrating it and layering on products, it’s a big poof, even after I blowdry. I didn’t have that issue with this product.
