January “Try Outs”

Since my new approach to skincare is using the entire line, I’ve been trying out more masks, exfoliators and eye creams while keeping the basics the same.  My search for the perfect mask for when my skin is breaking out is still underway, but I might have found my eye cream and exfoliator which I’ll talk about in my current skincare routine post.  For January these were a few things I tried.

Peter Thomas Roth Firmx Peeling Gel

DSC00448If you’ve read any of my posts you know PTR gets raved about frequently and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.  It’s a skincare line I constantly recommend to people and this is another product that did not disappoint.  This mask is what I refer to as a “gommage” which is the french word for erase.  It’s a gel texture that balls up once you roll it around on your skin and gives you that feeling that you are literally seeing your dead skin being whisked away.  While I wish it was that gratifying, no mask or peeling gel that I’ve come across has that capability.  However, it does leave your skin smooth and supple from the exfoliation.  I really like these types of treatments for those of you with dry skin because it exfoliates the skin without leaving it feeling dry or irritated.  This is another PTR win.  It’s for all skin types.

DSC00447It’s called a cleanser, but this is really a gel mask.  You only need a thin layer on the skin and it changes color to a light blue once it is dried.  I do like this product, however, it does turn my skin red so there’s an ingredient that my skin does not like in here.  If your skin can tolerate this product and you have oily, congested skin I think this product would work well for you.  You can use it 2-3 times per week.  It has salicylic and glycolic acid which are great if you have acne-prone skin.

Dior Capture Totale One Essential Mask

DSC00450This mask came with instructions on how to massage it into the skin once applied for a detoxifying effect.  It’s called an “Ultra-Detox Treatment-Mask.”  I would not waste a single penny on this.  The one benefit your skin might experience from this is some hydration, but for the cost and the actual ingredients this is not a great product.  As far as the “detox” element, you can do that with any oil or moisturizer and do a lymphatic massage on your face, but your liver and kidneys do the detoxing in the body.

Fresh Black Tea Age Delay Eye Concentrate

iconDSC00449I do love Fresh products, but I do not like jar products.  I think having to stick your finger into it is always a hassle and even if you use a small spatula it adds an extra layer of work.  The only exception to this for me are masks or a product that is so insanely good it makes up for its poor packaging.  The texture of this was fabulous, but for the price, I think you can find a product that’s more heavy-hitting.  You can find an eye cream that does what this one does, and maybe even more, for much cheaper.
